Summer Holiday Projects – A Boon or a Bane?

Summer breaks helps students in relaxing from their daily schedule. It helps their growing minds to rest and recuperate. However, them having no educational links during this time proves to be harmful as they forget all that they were involved with. So, cutting out a healthy balance between studies and relaxation is very important. Children need not lose out on their well deserved fun under the pressure of holiday tasks. Project works go a long way in keeping them engaged and also keep them interested. The learning also carries on through the practical implementation.  They can also be associated with activities like dance, arts or swimming classes where they would find fun with their peers and would also be in a healthy state.

Turning a Child into an Active Learner

The teaching techniques undergo various changes over time. The methods used to improve learning in students have also evolved. Some of the ways which can be used under current scenario are: Debates Students can be asked to form separate teams and debate on aspects they learnt in a lesson or about any issue which is happening around them. It not only improves the communication skills of the student but also increases the hunger to learn more and know better.  Role Playing If students are taught in the form of role playing then it definitely creates an impression in their minds and they absorb the lessons better.  Using Charts and Other Diagrammatic Forms of Explanation If complex concepts are broken down in illustrative forms then it becomes easier for students to understand and thus remember the lessons learnt for a much longer time. Interactive learning is always evolving and more such techniques are expected to come up in the future.

Impacts of Social Media on Kids

Anything in excessive proportions becomes dangerous. So is the case with students using social media channels. The various ill effects of this overuse are: Cyber Bullies – Demanding constant validation from the public becomes a source for bullies to make the lives of teenagers into a living hell. They have to realize that social media validation means nothing in real life. Sleep Deprivation – Excessive time spent on social media leads to reduced sleep time. It also impacts their health. FOMO – The Fear of Missing Out is an anxiety disorder where teenagers constantly feel they are missing out on glorious experiences which their peers or circle are getting. That leads to unnecessary stress. So, reaching out to them with the requisite knowledge is of primary importance.

Role of Play in a Child’s Growth

Engagement in sports helps a child in various ways. Some of those are: Physical Agility – The skills like coordination, communication, understanding etc are enhanced when children engage in group activities like sports. Social Development – Being part of a team helps kids in becoming responsible, social individuals. These help them in understanding the concepts of teamwork, negotiations, cooperation and so much more. Creativity – The creative side of kids gets a push while engaging in such activities as sports and games. They get an outlet to express themselves freely. Play is something which is never suited if it’s a formal thing. The fun is what makes the child learn invaluable life lessons.

How to Make your Child Independent?

In the initial years children are always dependent on their parents but as they grow that needs to change. They can lead fulfilling lives only if they find their independence.  As kids, they rarely understand their responsibilities or the consequences of their actions. A few tips to help them in this regard are: A Disciplined Daily Life A structured life helps in making children feel responsible in their actions. If their goals are clear in their minds then achieving those would be a cherishable experience for them. Choice to Make their Own Decisions Letting them be decisive in small actions of their lives helps them in being assertive but they should also be taught about a responsible decision. Giving them Responsibility Letting them participate in certain household chores gives them a sense of responsibility.  All the above actions would help them become truly independent adults in their lives later.

Methods of De – stressing during Exam Times

Exams are the time which causes high levels of stress in students. There are some ways in which they can keep themselves calm under such pressure situations: Fix a Schedule – A set goal would help out in achieving it. It’s always better to prepare a practical schedule to get the most work done. Work on Strengths and Weaknesses – There should be a healthy balance in working out the strengths and weaknesses. There should not be focus only on the favoured subjects and the disliked ones should not be ignored completely.  Revise Well – Keeping aside time for ample revision is very important when it comes to an effective study cycle.  Exercising, proper diet and sufficient sleep are also of extreme importance during this time.

Why it's important to build Friendship with Teenage Children

Communication between teenagers with parents and teachers is highly important. It must be an honest gateway between the parties involved.  Teenage is the time when individuals go through different mental and physical changes in themselves. That is when their transition should be guided carefully. An honest friendship with them is needed to be built up, with more enthusiasm from the end of parents. Students should not feel the need to hide when they are exploring new thoughts and activities. Rather they should feel free to talk about their mind and sort out their ways efficiently.  This is the critical stage which determines the course of the relationship in the future times to come. Handling this phase gently can make or break this bond.

Children and their Mental Health Awareness

Mental health consists of emotional and social issues. We always look closely into our physical well being but ignore the mental health and that is true for the kids as well. Acknowledging the feelings and thoughts of children is highly crucial for them becoming responsible adults. They should not feel hesitant or afraid to approach their parents or elders about any conflict which might arise in their minds. That helps in creating a safe environment where the children flourish into mature adults.  The more they become aware of their mental health issues, the more would they learn the critical art of balancing their lives. A balanced individual succeeds in all aspects of life.

Climate Crisis that We are Facing Now

The major crisis that we are facing right now is the one related to the climate. The icebergs are melting at an alarming rate due to the global warming.  The tiny steps which we can take in this regard are: Emission Reduction – Using products with minimal packaging helps in reducing waste. The carbon footprints should be kept at the minimum levels. Purchase Energy Efficient Products – Using LED bulbs in place of the usual ones, reducing the usage of air conditioners and many such steps go a long way in saving energy. Protesting against Deforestation – The alarming rate at which deforestation is taking place is harming various species. That leads to an imbalance in the environment cycle. The young generation of today needs to step up and raise their voices for their better future.

Paving the Way for Future Critical Thinkers in Students

Children are fast learners. If they can be guided correctly, then they can absorb the right ways quite easily. Some such tips are: Encourage their Questioning – Till the time the students don’t ask questions, their knowledge would be incomplete. Their questions must be encouraged so that their inquisitive minds get the right push. Only Necessary Intervention – When children get stuck in their activity, there should be intervention only after she/he has tried their very best and still failed.  Communicate Well with Children – The more you talk to them, the more they would get exposure. Proper and mature communication would help in navigating their minds in the right direction. Critical thinking not only helps students in their future professional lives but also in their personal lives. Keep following online content of H.M. Education Centre for more details.
