India fought for its independence from Britain and achieved it on 15th August, 1947. There were many brave women and men who participated in this long drawn struggle. Some of those personalities are:
Rani Lakshmi Bai – She played a key role in the Indian freedom struggle. She was an embodiment of bravery and fearlessness. She inspired many women to join the freedom struggle.
Mahatma Gandhi – He had faced racial discrimination when he went abroad to study and that led him to start his own way of protest. He was a non violent freedom fighter who had immense success.
Lal Bahadur Shastri – He participated in the Quit India movement, Civil Disobedience movement and Salt Satyagraha movement which was led by Mahatma Gandhi.
There were many more of such heroes who endured a lot of pain to earn the freedom which we have now.
